1. 개요

나에게 "Honeymoon"이란 모든 꿈을 더한 단어이다. 그렇다, 인생이야말로 밀월여행인 것이다. 혼자서든 누군가와 함께든, 인생, 사랑, 낙원, 자유.. 모두 영원할 것이다.

2015년 9월 18일, 유니버설 뮤직 그룹을 통해 발매된 라나 델 레이의 네 번째 정규 앨범이자 라나 델 레이 이름으로 발매한 세 번째 메이저 레이블 앨범.

2. 발매 과정

2집 Ultraviolence가 발매된 지 2개월 만에 새 앨범을 작업 중이라고 밝혔다. 빌보드에서 진행한 인터뷰에서 새 앨범의 타이틀은 'Honeymoon'이며 니나 시몬의 'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood'를 커버했고, 3집은 Born To Die, Paradise와 비슷하며 Ultraviolence와는 매우 다를 것이라고 예고했다.

Born To Die와 Paradise 때부터 함께 작업을 해온 릭 노웰스와 키런 맨 지스가 라나와 함께 앨범의 프로듀싱을 맡는다고 한다. 릭 노웰스의 인터뷰에 따르면 재즈풍 노래가 많을 것으로 추측된다.

2014년 말~2015년 초, 인터뷰에서 팀 버튼의 영화 Big eyes와 I Can Fly를 언급하며 그녀의 다음 앨범 사운드에 영향을 주었다고 밝혔다.

LA 타임스에서 'Music To Watch Boys To'라는 곡이 있으며, 앨범을 통합시켜줄 곡을 추가로 쓰고 있다고 밝혔고, 거라치아 인터뷰에서 앨범에 오케스트라, 웅장한 코러스, 우울한 원한의 감정을 싣길 원한다고 말했다.

갤로어 매거진에서 댄 히스와 릭 노웰스와 함께 독립영화나 그 외 몇 가지 일들을 계획하고 있다고 말했다.

2014년 10월, 유명 팝 레코드 프로듀서인 마크 론슨과도 만난 사실이 알려졌다. 그에게 라나가 작곡한 10곡을 들려주었고, 조만간 같이 녹음할 예정이라고 했다. 하지만 결국 2015년 8월 25일, 론슨이 라나의 차기 앨범에 참여하지 않는다 밝혀졌다.

2015년 1월 6일, 앨범 제목 'Honeymoon'이 공개되었다.

2015년 8월 10일, 리드 싱글 'High By The Beach'가 공개되었다.

2015년 8월 14일, 라나의 인스타그램으로 앨범은 9월 18일에 발매될 것이라고 밝혔다.

2015년 8월 19일, 'High By The Beach'가 7위로 데뷔했다는 기사가 떴으나 빌보드 측의 사고로 사실 7위가 아닌 51위로 정정됐다고 한다.[1]

2015년 8월 21일, 앨범 아트가 공개되고 아이튠즈 선주문 예약을 실시했다. 동시에 프로모 싱글 'Terrence Loves You'를 발매했다. 해당 프로모 싱글 커버에 적힌 전화번호로 전화를 걸면 'Burnt Norton (Interlude)'가 전주로 나오며 앨범 주간 업데이트 정보가 나왔다.

2015년 9월 8일, 두 번째 프로모 싱글 'Honeymoon'을 발매했다. 또한, Vevo 계정을 통해 앨범의 샘플러를 공개했다.

2015년 9월 11일, 두 번째 싱글 'Music To Watch Boys To'를 발매했다.

2015년 9월 18일, 3집 Honeymoon이 발매되었다.

전작과는 다르게 다양한 홍보 수단을 사용했다.

앨범의 이름을 가진 인스타그램 계정을 만들어서 앨범과 관련된 이야기들을 포스팅했다. 해당 계정
앨범 발매 전 어반 아웃피터스 매장에서 리스닝 파티를 열고 이날 매장에서 예약 구매를 한 고객들에 한해서 'High By The Beach' 포토슛이 인쇄된 리토 그래프를 증정했다. 앨범 발매 후 몇 차례 사인회를 열었다.
앨범 발매 전 아메바 매장에서도 리스닝 파티를 열고 이날 리스닝 파티에 참여한 고객들에 한해서 한정판 배지와 쿠키를 증정했다. 리스닝 파티에는 라나 델 레이 또한 참가했다. 온라인 매장으로 예약 구매를 한 고객들에 한해서 스티커를 증정했다.
BBC Radio 1을 통해 'High By The Beach', 'Music To Watch Boys To', 'Salvatore'를 선공개하고 인터뷰, 라이브를 진행했다.
애플 뮤직의 Beats 1 채널을 통해 'High By The Beach', 'Honeymoon', 'Music To Watch Boys To'를 선공개하고 인터뷰를 진행했다.
이번에도 어김없이 CD와 LP는 물론 박스 셋 형식으로도 발매가 되었는데, 처음 공개되었을 당시 많은 비난이 있었다. CD 앨범, 하드 바운드 포토북, 10장 중 랜덤으로 주는 4장의 리토 그래프라는 부실한 구성으로 35.99 파운드라는 어마어마한 액수를 요구했기 때문. 그마저도 영국 스토어와 미국 스토어의 상품 설명이 달라 더욱 논란이 되었다.
공식 투어는 없지만 앨범 홍보를 위해 2016년 3월부터 11월 20일까지 유럽과 북미 전역을 돌며 공연을 했다.

초기에 판매하던 LP는 반투명의 빨간 판이었지만 모두 품절되고 현재 검정 판으로 재입고되었다. 판의 염색 및 투명 여부는 음질에 영향을 주기 때문에 일부 컬렉터들의 비판을 받았다.

한국판 Honeymoon에 동봉된 앨범 설명글에 의하면 라나가 마크 론슨과 10곡을 녹음했으나, 라나가 지향하는 바와 달라 무산됐다고 하지만 이는 사실이 아니다. 분명히 마크 론슨이 Honeymoon에 참여할 것이라는 루머가 돌았던 것은 사실이지만, 나중에 밝혀진 바로는 둘은 어떠한 작업도 하지 않았다고 한다. 포장 스티커에도 프로듀서 '릭 노웰'이 참여했다고 나와있지만, 사실 그의 이름 철자는 Rick Nowels로 '릭 노웰스'로 읽는 것이 맞다.

원래는 현재의 앨범 커버가 아닌 다른 사진이었으나 캘리포니아 벨 에어에서 탄 스타라인 투어버스에서 찍은 사진이 잘 나와 지금의 앨범 아트가 탄생했다.

메타크리틱 점수가 상당히 좋은 편이다. 78점으로 당시 기준으로 그녀가 발매한 음반 중 점수가 가장 높다.

[1] 첫 주 음원 판매량이 27만 건 집계가 되었다고 했으나 실상은 6만 건이었다고 한다.
